Neuroscience Research Using ALZET® Osmotic Pumps

By direct intracerebral infusion, ALZET pumps allow researchers to bypass the blood-brain barrier. These pumps can also be used for continuous systemic infusion or targeted delivery to specific sites, such as the spinal cord or peripheral nerves. A variety of agents which have CNS activity have been delivered in this manner, including drugs of abuse, neurotrophic factors, neurotransmitters, and receptor antagonists.
